New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday released the eighth instalment of financial benefit under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme to eligible farmers. The prime minister also interacted with beneficiary farmers from several states via video conference.
PM Modi said nearly Rs 19,000 crore has been disbursed to the bank accounts of more than 9.5 crore beneficiary farmer families across the country. He added that farmers in West Bengal have received the benefit for the first time under the scheme.
The prime minister said that approximately 11 crore farmer families have got Rs 1.35 lakh crore under the scheme till date.
Today’s disbursement of financial benefit will be the first instalment of PM-Kisan for the ongoing financial year. The seventh instalment under the scheme was released on December 25, 2020.
PM-Kisan Scheme:
Under the scheme, a financial benefit of Rs 6,000 per year is provided to eligible beneficiary farmer families. This amount is payable in three equal four-monthly instalments of Rs 2,000.
The scheme was announced by Union Minister Piyush Goyal during the 2019 interim Union Budget. It has cost the government approximately Rs 75,000 crore per annum after coming into effect from December 2019.
During his address, PM Modi also spoke about the ongoing Covid-19 second wave. He cautioned farmers and people living in villages against Covid-19, which is rapidly spreading in rural areas at the moment. PM Modi advised people to wear masks properly and get the vaccine as soon as possible.
Who are eligible to get benefits under the Scheme?
All landholding farmers’ families, which have cultivable landholding in their names are eligible to get benefit under the scheme
What are the Exclusion Criteria under the Scheme?
Land holders, farmer families in which one or more of its members holding constitutional posts, members of Lok sabha/ Rajya sabha/ state Legislative Assemblies/ State, all serving or retired officers and employees of Central/ State, professionals like doctors, engineers, lawyers, chartered accountants, and architects registered with professional bodies and carrying out profession by undertaking practices.

Now look for ‘Farmer’s Corner Section at the homepage
Select the’ Beneficiary Status’ option. Here, the beneficiary can check his or her application status. The list will have the farmer’s name and the amount sent to his bank account.
Now either enter your Aadhar Number or Account Number or Mobile Number.
Then click on the ‘Get data’.
