Desk:Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Global AI Summit in Paris, emphasizing the need to be cautious about biases in Artificial Intelligence (AI). He highlighted how AI is playing a crucial role in people’s daily lives and advocated for sharing its benefits with everyone.
PM Modi pointed out that AI is evolving at a rapid pace and being deployed even faster. He stressed the need for global standards to address AI-related challenges. “We must bring together our resources and talents to develop open-source systems that promote trust and transparency. We should create high-quality, unbiased datasets to benefit the world,” he stated.
Addressing global leaders at the summit, PM Modi said AI should be people-centric. He also underlined the importance of tackling concerns related to cybersecurity, misinformation, and deepfakes. He highlighted India’s achievement in successfully building a low-cost digital public infrastructure for over 1.4 billion people. India is also at the forefront of adopting AI while ensuring strong data privacy frameworks through technological and legal measures, he added.
Co-chairing the AI summit with French President Emmanuel Macron, PM Modi noted that AI is transforming politics, economy, security, and society. He called for collective global efforts to establish governance frameworks and standards that uphold shared values, mitigate risks, and build trust.
PM Modi stated that AI is shaping the future of humanity in the 21st century. Addressing concerns about job losses due to AI, he reassured that history has shown that technology does not eliminate jobs but transforms them, creating new opportunities. “We must invest in equipping our people with skills for an AI-driven future and prepare them for new ways of working,” he concluded.
