Pakistan-Taliban Standoff Escalates: Violence and Cross-Border Tensions

On Thursday night, Pakistan launched a series of heavy attacks on Afghanistan, which were met with a strong response from the Taliban. The Taliban claims that 55 Pakistani soldiers were killed in these attacks, and several others were captured.

Amid rising tensions, Pakistan appears to be trying to involve India in the conflict. Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif alleged that since the Taliban came to power, Afghanistan has effectively become a “colony” of India. He said that after NATO forces withdrew, it was expected that local governance would bring stability, but this did not happen. According to Asif, Afghanistan has now become a hub for terrorists from around the world, who are spreading terror to other countries.

Asif also pointed out that Pakistan had made every effort to maintain stability and had even sought help from friendly nations. However, he claimed that the Taliban has now turned itself into a proxy for India. He emphasized that Pakistan had previously played a positive role, providing refuge to millions of Afghan refugees, but now patience has run out, and Pakistan is openly engaged in conflict with Afghanistan.

Pakistan’s Home Minister also warned the Taliban, stating that they had underestimated Pakistan’s strength.

Meanwhile, Mohsin Naqvi said that Afghanistan’s attacks had been strongly countered. He accused Pakistan of launching “cowardly attacks under the cover of darkness,” targeting innocent civilians. Naqvi affirmed that the nation stands firmly with its armed forces and warned that the Taliban would face severe consequences for its actions. He stressed that there would be no compromise on national security.
