Geneva : At the 55th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), India’s First Secretary Anupama Singh delivered a strong rebuttal to the baseless allegations raised by Pakistan and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Exercising the “Right to Reply,” she made it clear that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and urged Pakistan to immediately vacate its illegal occupation of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Singh criticized the OIC for merely echoing Pakistan’s propaganda, calling it a political “echo chamber” serving Pakistan’s interests. She highlighted that Pakistan’s repeated disinformation campaigns reflect its political failures and internal insecurities.
The Indian diplomat emphasized that the accession of Kashmir to India under the 1947 Independence Act and international law is fully legal and irreversible. She warned Pakistan that its illegal control over PoK remains a key international dispute and must be ended without delay.
On Pakistan’s criticism of democracy, Singh dismissed it as absurd, pointing out that countries struggling to maintain regular governments have no moral standing to lecture on democratic principles. In contrast, record voter turnout in recent Jammu and Kashmir elections demonstrates the people’s support for democracy and peace.
Addressing financial issues, Singh also highlighted that India’s development budget for Jammu and Kashmir is twice the size of Pakistan’s IMF bailout package, underscoring Pakistan’s economic weaknesses and exposing its propaganda.
Through this firm statement, India made it clear on the international stage that it will never accept the false narratives and accusations propagated by Pakistan and the OIC.
