Every year, Nirjala Ekadashi is observed on the Ekadashi of the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase) in the month of Jyeshtha as per the Hindu calendar. This significant fast is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the preserver of the universe. On this day, devotees perform the worship of Lakshmi-Narayan with full devotion.
What makes this fast unique is that it is observed without consuming even a drop of water, and typically, devotees also abstain from fruits and food. It is believed that by observing Nirjala Ekadashi, one receives the blessings of Lord Vishnu, fulfills desires, is freed from sins, and ultimately attains moksha (liberation).
When is Nirjala Ekadashi in 2025?
According to the Vedic calendar, the Ekadashi tithi of Jyeshtha Shukla Paksha will begin at 2:15 AM on June 6 and will end at 4:47 AM on June 7. Since Ekadashi falls during the sunrise on June 6, the Nirjala Ekadashi fast will be observed on June 6, 2025.

According to Hindu beliefs, observing Nirjala Ekadashi brings longevity and destroys all sins. The observer enjoys worldly comforts and ultimately attains salvation. It is considered one of the most powerful Ekadashis, equivalent in merit to observing all 24 Ekadashis in a year.
What to Donate on Nirjala Ekadashi
Since no water is consumed on this day, donating water is considered extremely auspicious. Along with water, donating food grains, rice, fruits, sesame seeds, clothes, money, and salt is also believed to be highly beneficial and spiritually rewarding.
