Islamabad:Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Asim Munir, has once again issued a veiled threat to India, asserting that Pakistan will respond with full force to protect its national honour and safeguard its people. According to a statement from the military’s media wing, General Munir made the remarks during an interaction with participants of the 15th National Workshop Balochistan held at GHQ.
General Munir emphasized that Pakistan desires peace both within the region and beyond. However, he warned that any violation of the country’s sovereignty or territorial integrity would be met with a forceful response.
He also addressed the threat of terrorism, stating that it recognizes no religion, sect, or ethnicity, and called for united national efforts to counter it. Referring to the unrest in Balochistan, he condemned terrorist groups that exploit Baloch identity to promote divisive agendas, labeling them a stain on Baloch honour and patriotism. Munir reaffirmed the commitment of Pakistan’s armed forces and law enforcement agencies to continue fighting terrorism with the support of the people.
Pakistan Defence Minister Fears Indian Strike
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif expressed fears that India may carry out a military strike near the Line of Control (LoC) at any moment. His remarks come amid heightened tensions following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir.
Speaking on Monday, Asif warned, “There are reports that India may launch a strike at any point along the LoC. Any such move will be met with a strong response.” He accused Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi of pushing the region toward the brink of nuclear war for political gains.
Asif also reiterated allegations that New Delhi is involved in sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces.
On April 22, a horrific terrorist attack in the Baisaran Valley of Pahalgam shook India. The Resistance Front, an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba, brutally murdered 27 tourists—mostly Hindus—after conducting reconnaissance of the tourist site using satellite phones.
