Massive Bomb Blast in Quetta Kills at Least 23, Injures Over 30

Desk: A powerful bomb explosion rocked Pakistan’s southwestern city of Quetta on Sunday, raising fears of heavy casualties. According to local media reports, the blast occurred near a railway track close to the main gate of the Frontier Corps (FC) Headquarters in Quetta. The explosion was so intense that it completely destroyed a train coach and triggered fires in the surrounding area.

Initial reports suggest that at least 23 people have been killed, while more than 30 others sustained injuries in the attack. The injured were rushed to Quetta Civil Hospital and other medical facilities, where several victims are reportedly in critical condition.

Eyewitnesses said panic spread across the area immediately after the explosion. The force of the blast damaged nearby infrastructure and set multiple vehicles parked near the railway track on fire. Thick plumes of smoke could be seen rising from the site as emergency responders rushed to the scene.

Security forces, rescue teams, and firefighters launched a large-scale operation to evacuate victims, extinguish the flames, and secure the area. Authorities have cordoned off the blast site and initiated an investigation to determine the nature and cause of the explosion.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. However, the incident comes amid ongoing security challenges in Pakistan’s Balochistan province, where militant and insurgent groups have frequently targeted security installations, public infrastructure, and transportation networks.

Officials warned that the death toll could rise further, as several of the injured remain in serious condition. Authorities are continuing rescue efforts and gathering evidence to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the blast.
