On the fifth day (Panchami Tithi) of Chaitra Navratri, devotees worship Maa Skandamata, the fifth form of Goddess Durga. This year, Chaitra Navratri Panchami Tithi falls on April 2, 2025 (Wednesday). Due to the absence of Tritiya Tithi, this Navratri will be of eight days instead of nine.
Form of Maa Skandamata
Maa Skandamata holds Lord Skanda (Kartikeya) in her lap. She is seated on a lotus flower, which is why she is also known as Padmasana Devi. Her vehicle is a lion, symbolizing strength and courage. It is believed that worshiping Maa Skandamata helps remove issues related to children and blesses devotees with happiness.
Worship Method of Maa Skandamata
- Morning Rituals: Wake up early, take a bath, and wear clean clothes.
- Idol Placement: Bathe the idol or picture of Maa Skandamata with holy Ganga water.
- Offerings: Adorn Maa with kumkum, roli, flowers, clothes, and a dupatta.
- Prasad: Offer bananas or kheer as prasad to the Goddess.
- Aarti & Mantra: Light a ghee lamp, perform Aarti, and chant the sacred mantras.

Maa Skandamata is especially fond of bananas. Devotees can also offer kheer (sweet rice pudding) to seek her blessings.

On this day, yellow and white colors are considered highly auspicious. Devotees are encouraged to wear yellow or white attire while performing the puja to receive Maa’s divine blessings.
