Vance, Waltz to Visit India Next Week

Desk: U.S. Vice President JD Vance made a significant statement on Thursday regarding the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. He said that the conflict between the two nations is fundamentally not America’s issue. Vance made it clear that the United States has no direct role in this matter. Though he didn’t explicitly mention India, his remarks appeared to signal that India is free to deal with the situation in its own way.

India’s firm stance and continued retaliatory actions have sent a strong message to the world — that it will no longer tolerate terrorism, and Pakistan can no longer expect international protection. Vance’s comments are also being interpreted in this light — that India now has a free hand in taking action against terrorism, and the U.S. intends to maintain distance from the conflict.

He subtly conveyed that India has every right to protect its security and regional interests. Vance said, “We cannot control these nations. India has its grievances with Pakistan, and Pakistan has responded. All we can do is try to prevent further escalation, but the U.S. has no role to play in this war.”

His remarks come at a time when India, under ‘Operation Sindoor’, destroyed nine terrorist camps located in Pakistan. This was in retaliation for the deadly attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives.

On Thursday night, India also successfully thwarted Pakistan’s attempts to launch missile and drone strikes. Sensitive military bases in Pathankot, Jammu, and Udhampur were targeted, but the alertness of Indian security forces foiled every attempt. Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump also expressed concern over the entire episode. “I know both countries well and I want them to resolve this tension. If my help is of any use, I’m ready,” he said.
