Desk:The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) had planned to launch the PSLV-C59/PROBA-3 spacecraft today, but the launch was postponed just minutes before liftoff. ISRO officials revealed that a technical anomaly was detected in the European Space Agency’s (ESA) PROBA-3 satellite, leading to the delay. Both agencies have refrained from disclosing the specific nature of the issue. The original launch was scheduled for 4:08 PM today.
According to ISRO, the launch has been rescheduled for Thursday at 4:12 PM from the Indian spaceport.
Why the PROBA-3 Mission is Special
Dubbed a world-first initiative, PROBA-3 involves two satellites flying in precise formation, with millimeter-level accuracy, to study the Sun’s outer atmosphere. This ambitious mission, facilitated by ISRO’s commercial arm NewSpace India Limited, is a collaborative effort with ESA.
The mission aims to achieve “precision formation flying” and gather groundbreaking insights into the Sun’s outer environment.
In a statement, ISRO called this mission “a proud milestone in India’s space journey and a remarkable example of global partnership.”
