Desk:Several nations worldwide have shown keen interest in India’s indigenous Pinaka Rocket System, a highly lethal multi-barrel rocket launcher. Among these, Armenia, which inked a deal with India two years ago, has started receiving its first batch of Pinaka systems. Alongside Pinaka, India is also supplying the Akash Air Defense System to Armenia. According to defense sources, the first shipment of the Pinaka system has already reached Armenia. Capable of striking targets over 80 kilometers away, this system is a testament to India’s advanced indigenous technology.
Not just Armenia, but countries from Southeast Asia and Europe have also expressed interest in the Pinaka system. Recently, India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully tested several variants of Pinaka, further enhancing its capabilities. The manufacturing of this robust system is handled by Nagpur-based Solar Industries’ Economic Explosives Limited and the state-owned India Limited.
The name “Pinaka” holds deep cultural significance as it refers to the mythical bow of Lord Shiva in Hindu scriptures, symbolizing strength and destruction. During the visit of India’s Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Anil Chauhan to France, the French government also showed interest in this advanced rocket system.
India’s government has been proactive in promoting its defense exports, leading to a substantial increase in recent years. India’s defense products, including the Pinaka Rocket System and BrahMos Missiles, have garnered significant demand across global markets, reinforcing India’s position as a growing defense exporter.
