New Delhi: India, once again shown generosity amidst ongoing tension with China in the eastern Ladakh region along the Line of Actual Control. India has returned a Chinese soldier caught in Indian territory. The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) soldier was handed back to China at the Chushul-Moldo meeting at 10:10 AM on Monday morning.
On Sunday, China had requested India to return its soldier. China had argued that the captured Chinese soldier had lost his way due to dark and difficult geography. The soldier was caught by the Indian Army on 8 January.
This Chinese soldier was captured near the southern shore of Pangong Lake in eastern Ladakh. On Monday, this soldier was handed over to China at the Chushul-Moldo meeting point. Due to unprecedented mobilization and deployment of Chinese troops, a large number of soldiers from both sides have been deployed with LAC after the confrontation last year.
The Chinese military had said that the Indian Army should strictly follow the relevant agreements made by the two countries. The Indian Army should not waste time to return the lost soldier, so that positive factors can be added to reduce border tensions between the two countries and jointly maintain peace.
The Indian Army said on this, “The captured soldier of the PLA is being treated as per the procedures and it is being investigated under which circumstances he crossed the LAC.”
