Geneva: India on Saturday called for upholding the rule of law and release of detained leaders during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Adoption of resolution on Myanmar.
The country also welcomed the ASEAN initiative on Myanmar and the ‘Five-Point Consensus’, asserting its diplomatic engagements will be aimed at strengthening these efforts.
While speaking on UNGA Adoption of resolution on Myanmar, Ambassador TS Murti said, “India welcomes ASEAN initiative on Myanmar and ‘Five-Point Consensus’. Our diplomatic engagements will be aimed at strengthening these efforts. We call for upholding the rule of law and release of detained leaders.”
“India’s position on Myanmar’s situation has been clear and consistent. We have expressed our deep concern on the developments in Myanmar. We strongly condemn the use of violence and urge maximum restraint,” he asserted.
