Desk: India and the United Kingdom reached an agreement on a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) on Tuesday. Following this, both nations announced a comprehensive trade deal that includes provisions for eliminating tariffs on most goods and services. This move could pave the way for similar agreements between New Delhi and other countries, including the United States. Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the agreement as a historic achievement in a tweet.
Prime Minister Modi tweeted, “Delighted to speak with my friend Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer. As a historic achievement, India and the UK have successfully concluded an ambitious and mutually beneficial Free Trade Agreement, along with a Dual Investment Summit. These landmark agreements will further strengthen our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and boost trade, investment, growth, job creation, and innovation in both our economies. I look forward to welcoming Prime Minister Starmer to India soon.”
