Desk:The Indian government has heightened vigilance following the emergence of the new Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) cases in China. The Ministry of Health convened a meeting on Saturday to assess the situation and confirmed that developments in China are being closely monitored. The ministry has also requested verified information on the virus’s status from the World Health Organization (WHO).
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Health Ministry clarified that there is no need for concern. Officials emphasized that the government is fully prepared to address any potential situation. The ministry noted that seasonal trends often witness an uptick in cases of respiratory illnesses such as influenza, RSV, and HMPV. These viruses are typically seasonal and not a significant cause for alarm.

According to an agency report, the ministry reassured that Indian healthcare services are equipped to handle any scenario. Currently, there has been no increase in HMPV cases in India. Officials urged citizens to remain vigilant about airborne viruses but emphasized that the situation is under control.
