New Delhi: The Government of India has officially revealed details of ‘Operation Sindoor’, a strategic military response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. In a joint press briefing, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, along with senior military officers Colonel Sophia Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, shared the operation’s key details.
Foreign Secretary Misri stated that the Pahalgam attack was one of the deadliest assaults on civilians since the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. He confirmed that the attack was orchestrated by Lashkar-e-Taiba, operating from Pakistan, and its proxy group, The Resistance Front (TRF), claimed responsibility. He described TRF as a front organization that carries out terrorist activities on behalf of groups like Lashkar and Jaish-e-Mohammed.
Pakistan’s Role Exposed at the United Nations
Misri further revealed that Pakistan had tried to remove references to TRF from the United Nations Security Council’s statement, which, according to him, clearly demonstrated Islamabad’s involvement in the attack. “Pakistan has become a global hub for terrorism,” he said. Misri also noted that India had taken serious diplomatic steps on April 23, including suspending aspects of the Indus Waters Treaty, but Pakistan failed to take any concrete action against terror groups and instead continued to blame India.
9 Terrorist Camps Targeted in Precision Strikes
Colonel Sophia Qureshi elaborated on the military operation, stating that India carried out targeted strikes on nine terrorist camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). “We ensured that only terrorist facilities were hit and no civilians were harmed,” she said.
Among the major targets was a terror camp in Kotli Abbas, where nearly 1,500 militants were reportedly being trained. Other key sites in Bahawalpur and Mahmuna Zoya were also destroyed.
Training Center of 26/11 Attacker Ajmal Kasab Destroyed
Colonel Qureshi disclosed that India also struck Markaz-e-Taiba in Muridke, the headquarters of Lashkar-e-Taiba and the same location where Ajmal Kasab, the 26/11 Mumbai attacker, received his training. She emphasized that no Pakistani military installations were targeted and civilian lives were protected throughout the operation.
Operation Focused Solely on Eliminating Terror Infrastructure
Wing Commander Vyomika Singh highlighted that the operation was executed with precision and restraint. “This was a limited, focused operation. Our targets were exclusively terror infrastructure. It was a matter of national right and defense,” she said.
