Desk: In a significant move against Pakistan, India has blocked the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the Pakistan government within the country. The action was taken by X on the request of the Indian central government. This step comes a day after a major terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists. Reports suggest Pakistani terrorists may have been involved in the attack.

This is not the first time such a move has been made. In March 2023, access to the same account was also restricted in India.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology had requested X to block the account, which has now been restricted within Indian territory. The move is part of a series of strong actions taken by the Indian government against Pakistan.

India Announces 5 Major Actions Against Pakistan

On Wednesday, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) held a high-level meeting and announced five major decisions targeting Pakistan:

  1. Immediate suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty
  2. Cancellation of SAARC visas for all Pakistani citizens
  3. Closure of the Attari-Wagah border check post
  4. Reduction in the number of Pakistani diplomats in India
  5. Declaration of Pakistani military advisors at the High Commission as non-essential

The CCS meeting was attended by key figures including External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

Prime Minister Modi, who cut short his visit to Saudi Arabia, chaired the meeting at the airport itself, demonstrating the urgency and seriousness of the matter.

These steps reflect India’s intensified stance against cross-border terrorism and diplomatic provocations from Pakistan.
