New Delhi: India-Bangladesh met on Saturday in the backdrop of ‘MujibBarsho’, 50 years of the Bangladesh Liberation War. In the 19th Home Secretary level talks, the two countries agreed to work jointly against terrorism and extremism. The establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries was discussed in the talks. After the talks, the Home Ministry said that the two sides have reiterated their commitment to further strengthen mutual cooperation in security and border related issues.
At the same time, the two sides confirmed not to allow the use of territory of any country for any activity related to terror and extremism, keeping in mind the interests of each other. During this time, both sides appreciated the existing cooperation between the two countries for taking effective action against terrorism and extremism and agreed to continue it. Both sides also discussed early completion of the pending fence at the India-Bangladesh border. However, the Prime Ministers of both countries have already agreed on this. Apart from this issues related to trade, connectivity, development partnership, power, energy and water resources, regional and multilateral cooperation and border management and security were discussed. India-Bangladesh also appreciated the mutual cooperation between the two countries during the Corona period.
