New Delhi:India and China have reached a significant agreement on a structured patrolling mechanism along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), following a series of talks between the officials of both nations. On Monday, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Mistry announced that after recent discussions, both sides have agreed to a new patrolling arrangement aimed at reducing ongoing border standoffs.
Mistry stated, “We have reached an important understanding with China on the patrolling issues. This agreement is expected to help ease the current standoff situation along the border.” He further mentioned that after weeks of continuous negotiations, they have finally established a structured patrolling mechanism at the LAC. This agreement is seen as a positive step toward de-escalating tensions stemming from the 2020 border disputes.
The Foreign Secretary also highlighted that Indian and Chinese officials have been in constant contact over other unresolved issues and expressed optimism that these matters will be resolved soon. Reportedly, this patrolling agreement focuses on the contentious Depsang and Demchok areas.
