Hasimara: The Indian Air Force on Wednesday (July 28) operationalised the second squadron of the Rafale fighter jets at the Hasimara air base in West Bengal. The 101 squadron has been operationalised with around half a dozen Rafale fighter aircraft.
Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria was present on the occasion when the squadron was made operational. The first squadron of the Rafale fighter jets is already operational at Ambala air force station in Haryana.
The development came on a day when the Central government informed Parliament that the country has so far received 26 Rafale fighter jets out of the 36 for which a government-to-government deal had been inked with France. Rafales are manufactured by French aerospace major Dassault Aviation and are multi-role, 4.5 generation jets that are globally recognised for their air superiority and precision strikes.
