New Delhi: In a historic move aimed at empowering women and enhancing their role in national security, the Ministry of Home Affairs has approved the formation of the first all-women battalion in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). A CISF spokesperson announced on Tuesday that the force has long been a favored choice for women aspiring to serve in the Central Armed Police Forces, with women now making up more than 7 percent of its ranks.
The creation of this women battalion is expected to encourage ambitious young women across the country to join the force and serve the nation, providing a new avenue for their recognition within the CISF.
The CISF headquarters has initiated the preliminary steps for recruitment, training, and selection of a base for this new battalion. The training program is specifically designed to build an exceptional battalion capable of performing in diverse roles, including VIP protection and safeguarding duties in critical areas such as airports and the Delhi Metro Rail, with specialized commando training.
The proposal to establish all-women battalions in CISF aligns with the directive from the Union Home Minister during the CISF’s 53rd Foundation Day celebrations. This initiative represents a significant advancement in both women empowerment and national security.
