Gujarati-Style Peanut Chikki Recipe

As Makar Sankranti approaches, homes start preparing treats made with sesame, jaggery, and peanuts, such as peanut chikki. In Gujarat, there’s a unique way of making peanut chikki, where crushed peanuts are used to create a soft and tasty treat. This time, you can try making this easy Gujarati-style peanut chikki at home.

Ingredients for Gujarati-style Peanut Chikki:

  • 200 grams peanuts
  • 1 cup jaggery
  • 1 cup milk
  • 8-10 cashews
  • 1 cup milk powder

  1. First, dry roast the peanuts well. Then remove their skins by rubbing them together.
  2. Take the roasted and peeled peanuts in a grinder jar, and add 1 cup of milk powder and 8-10 cashews. Grind everything together to make a fine powder.
  3. In a pan, add milk and bring it to a boil. Turn off the gas flame.
  4. Add the jaggery to the hot milk and stir well until the jaggery melts.
  5. Turn the gas flame back on and add the prepared peanut and cashew powder mixture. Stir the mixture continuously with a spatula until it begins to release ghee and starts to separate from the pan.
  6. Grease a plate or tray with a little ghee and spread the prepared mixture evenly.
  7. Garnish the chikki with finely chopped pistachios on top.
