Garima Verma of Indian origin named Digital Director in Office of the First Lady

Washington: Jill Biden, wife of newly elected US President Joe Biden, has named Garima Verma of Indian origin as Digital Director in her office and Michael LaRosa as Press Secretary. Jill Biden will be America’s first woman after Biden takes over as president on January 20.

The newly elected president also announced additional members to the Office of the First Lady and nominated Rory Brosius as the new executive director of the joining forces initiative. The team said that Garima grew up in Ohio and the Central Valley of California and was born in India. Garima was also a part of Biden-Harris’s election campaign. Prior to this, she has been a part of the entertainment world. She has worked for marketing films at Paramount Pictures and television programs at Walt Disney Company’s ABC Network. She has also worked with media agency Horizon Media.

Verma has served as an independent consultant in marketing, design and digital for many small businesses and nonprofits. The team reported that LaRosa, who was involved in campaigning during the presidential election in the US and now part of the Biden-Harris team, was Jill Biden’s press secretary and chief spokesperson. LaRosa was the Director of Communications for the House Democratic Policy Communications Committee in Nancy Pelosi’s office.

Jill Biden said, “With their diverse backgrounds, these dedicated and skilled public servants will be committed to building an administration that will support the development of the American people.” Biden’s team said that these skilled and experienced people would work with Dr. Jill Biden and and play a critical role in supporting the operations of the First Lady’s office.

On the other hand, Nivanthi Karunaratne of the South Asian Symphony Orchestra of India has been invited to perform at the inaugural Fanfare for Joe and Kamala online concert.

According to a statement , The virtual ‘Inauguration Fanfare for Joe and Kamala’ will be streamed on social media on Tuesday, January 19, at 12 pm US-Eastern time. The event is being held a day before the newly elected US President Joe Biden and newly elected Vice President Kamala Harris take charge on January 20.
