Today, women are not less than men in any field and Ayesha Aziz (25), from Jammu and Kashmir who marks a milestone with her extra ordinary achievements is an epitome to justify this statement well.
Ayesha Aziz, who hails from Kashmir, has set a new record by becoming India’s youngest female pilot. This act of Ayesha is not only a source of inspiration, but also a symbol of empowerment for Kashmiri women.
In 2011, Ayesha became a student pilot after being licensed at the tender age of 16. The following year she trained to fly MIG-29 jets at Russia’s Sokol airbase. Ayesha started training at the school when she was 16 years old and in the year 2017, she got a commercial license from Bombay Flying Club.
“Kashmiri women have made great progress in the last few years and have done exceptionally well in the field of education. Every other woman of Kashmir is doing her Masters or Doctorate. The people of the valley are doing very well,” said Ayesha Aziz.
While throwing light on her journey, she said that I chose this area because I loved traveling from a very young age and flying always thrilled me. This is why I wanted to become a pilot. This is quite challenging as it is not a 9 to 5 o’clock desk job. There is no definite pattern in this and I have to be constantly prepared to face new places, face different types of weather and meet new people. To be a pilot you have to be mentally strong.”
She further said that one’s mental state should be very strong in this profession as it is a big responsibility to carry 200 passengers.
Ayesha’s mother hails from Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. Her father is from Mumbai, Maharashtra. Ayesha’s brother says that her sister has set an example for Kashmiri girls.
‘On the Dot’ is proud of Ayesha for setting an example worth emulating for youngsters in India- to chase and attain their dreams despite all barriers and obstructions! We laud her for her records and wish her best of luck for her future goals!
