Desk: Report: Two Chinese nationals were once again targeted in Pakistan, with shots fired at them on Tuesday in Karachi. This incident adds to the growing list of attacks on Chinese citizens in the country. The local police and hospital authorities have confirmed the event. As a result, concerns about the safety of Chinese citizens in Pakistan have resurfaced. It has been reported that both victims are in critical condition. In light of these events, the Chinese ambassador to Pakistan has also expressed concern regarding the repeated attacks on Chinese nationals and emphasized the need for improved security measures.
Faizan Ali, a police officer, provided some details about the incident, though the full account is yet to emerge. According to a spokesperson from the Liaquat National Hospital, the condition of both injured Chinese nationals is serious, and they are currently receiving treatment.
This is not the first time that Chinese nationals have been attacked in Pakistan. Just last month, two Chinese citizens were killed and 10 others injured in a suicide bombing near Karachi Airport. The banned Balochistan Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the attack.
In another incident in March, five Chinese engineers lost their lives in a suicide bombing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Since the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) began nearly a decade ago, 21 Chinese nationals have been killed in such attacks. The Chinese ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zedong, condemned the ongoing violence, urging Pakistan to take strict action against anti-China terrorist groups. During a seminar, the ambassador highlighted the security concerns surrounding the CPEC and urged Pakistan to implement necessary measures to ensure the safety of Chinese nationals.
