Desk:Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, prominent Baloch author and activist Mir Yaar Baloch has declared Balochistan’s independence from Pakistan and formally requested the Indian government to allow the opening of a Baloch embassy in New Delhi. Known for advocating the rights of the Baloch people, Mir Yaar Baloch made the announcement through multiple posts on social media platform X. He also appealed to the United Nations to deploy peacekeeping forces in Balochistan and to compel Pakistan’s military to withdraw from the region.
This dramatic declaration came as hostilities between India and Pakistan intensified following recent clashes. On the night of May 7, India launched Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The Indian government clarified that no Pakistani military infrastructure was targeted during the operation. In retaliation, Pakistan escalated tensions on Thursday by launching attacks on Indian military and civilian areas using drones, missiles, and heavy artillery.
India responded by intercepting and destroying multiple Pakistani drones and missiles, and reportedly shot down Pakistani fighter jets along with an AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System).
Meanwhile, Mir Yaar Baloch claimed that Baloch freedom fighters attacked Pakistan’s gas fields in Dera Bugti, which houses over 100 gas wells. In one of his posts, he wrote:
“We have declared our independence. The collapse of Pakistan is near. We urge India to permit the Democratic Republic of Balochistan to open an official office and embassy in New Delhi.”
He further appealed to the UN:
“We request the United Nations to recognize the independence of the Democratic Republic of Balochistan and convene a meeting of all member states to support us.”
He demanded an immediate UN peacekeeping mission in Balochistan and called for the complete withdrawal of Pakistani forces from the region. “All non-Baloch personnel serving in the military, paramilitary forces, police, ISI, and administration must leave Balochistan at once,” he said.
Regarding the newly formed government, he declared:
“The formation of the new government of independent Balochistan is underway. The inclusion of Baloch women in the cabinet reflects our commitment to our nation.”
“We Have an Army Too”
In another post, he challenged Pakistan by stating:
“O NaaPakistan, if you have an army, so do we. Baloch freedom fighters will continue their assaults.”
A video had previously surfaced showing a Pakistani military vehicle being blown up, for which the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility. The group asserted that 14 Pakistani soldiers were killed in that attack.
