Lahore: Hafiz Saeed, the mastermind of the Mumbai terror attack and Jamat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief, has been sentenced to 15 years in jail by a Pakistani court. This decision came on Thursday in the case of Terror funding. He has also been fined two lakh Pakistani rupees.
70-year-old Saeed has already been sentenced to 21 years imprisonment in four similar cases. He has so far received a punishment of 36 years in 5 cases. Saeed is currently lodged in Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore.
In jail since July last year
Saeed was arrested on July 17 last year. He has been in jail since then. He was sentenced to 11 years in jail by the court after he was found guilty of Terror funding in February. Subsequently sentenced to 5 years in two more cases. A total of 23 cases of terrorist funding, money laundering and illegal possession are registered against Saeed.
Saeed was charged by a Pakistani court in December last year with Terror Funding. Earlier, on July 3, Punjab province police had registered 13 cases against Hafiz and his associates. Hafiz is accused of raising funds for terrorist activities through his NGO.
