Beijing: China gets defeated by Indian troops in eastern Ladakh on every front, but it’s still plotting against India regularly. Sometimes, they sends fighter jets and soldiers to practice at a Pakistani airbase adjoining Gujarat, sometimes the country (China) caught making military camps for the soldiers in the depth areas of the LAC. China tries its best to plot against India, but still gets defeated.
Now, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) border defense troops in Ngari, Southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, received a type of “Iron Man” exoskeleton suit that enables them to conduct tasks in harsh, high altitude environments more efficiently. Chinese soldiers have also started wearing these suits.
According to Global Times, China’s military mouthpiece, the exoskeleton suit is effective in missions such as supply delivery, patrol and sentry duty. PLA border troops stationed in Ngari, which is more than 5,000 meters above sea level, have started using the exoskeleton suit, which allows them to carry supplies that weigh about as much as an adult, while avoiding the risk of waist or leg injuries, China Central Television (CCTV) reported.
During a recent supply delivery mission, several soldiers attached to the PLA Xinjiang Military Command carried food and water, with each person carrying about 20 kilograms of these supplies in backpacks, according to the CCTV report.
A soldier said that the weight of the soldiers’ backpack was being transferred to the suit instead of falling on his feet as he was wearing an exoskeleton suit. However, China has not given more details about the suit. But, the reported footage shows that the suit is quite light. An expert from ‘Global Times’, on the condition of publishing anonymity, said that such suits prove to be very helpful at high altitude.
Due to the lack of oxygen at high altitudes, the luggage appears to be much heavier than its actual weight. The expert said, “An exoskeleton suit can help its wearer save their energy and protect their feet.” He further said that in border security operations, the suit is helpful in supply delivery, patrolling, sentry duty .
Experts say that Chinese troops will be physically benefited in the border areas when the soldiers on the other side are not wearing such suits. Those soldiers will get tired quickly. The No.208 Research Institute of China Ordnance Industries gave the first batch of exoskeleton suits to the PLA Border Defense Forces in November and the second batch was sent in December based on the contract. The institute says that the soldiers have given positive feedback regarding the suit.
