Modak is an Indian sweet dumpling dish popular in many Indian states and cultures. According to Hindu belief, it is considered one of the favourite dishes of Lord Ganesha. The word modak means “small part of Bliss” and it symbolises Spiritual Knowledge.
It is called modak in Marathi, Konkani and Gujarati; modhaka in Kannada; modhakam or kozhakkattai in Tamil and Malayalam; and kudumu or “madhaka” in Telugu.
The quick, easy-to-make Modak recipe:
Ingredients:
⦁ Bourbon biscuit- 6 no
⦁ Powdered sugar- 3 tbsp
⦁ Biscuit cream- 6
⦁ Milk- 4 tbsp
Method:
⦁ Take 6 bourbon biscuits. Scoop the cream from the biscuits and keep aside.
⦁ Make a fine powder of the biscuits. Then add the powder sugar and mix properly.
⦁ Add biscuit cream and mix it properly.
⦁ Then, add milk and knead it well.
⦁ Make sure the dough is firm not soft.
⦁ When the dough is firm, take the modak mould and start giving shape.
⦁ You can even make a laddo shape of it.
⦁ Your Bon Bon Modaks are ready to serve.
