US–Iran Tensions Escalate Again After Tanker Attack, US Launches Retaliatory Strikes

Desk : Tensions between the United States and Iran have escalated once again after US forces carried out retaliatory strikes on Iranian military installations following an alleged attack on a Panama-flagged oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to reports, the US military targeted multiple Iranian facilities, including missile and drone storage sites, surveillance systems, communication hubs and coastal radar installations. The action comes in response to what Washington described as continued attacks on commercial shipping in the region.

The latest escalation was triggered after a large oil tanker carrying nearly two million barrels of crude oil was allegedly attacked while passing through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical energy shipping routes.

US officials have blamed Iran for the incident, calling it a serious threat to maritime security and global energy supply chains. The strikes mark a further intensification of military activity in the region, raising fears of a broader confrontation.

US President Donald Trump issued a strong warning to Iran, saying the country “will never learn” from previous actions. He also indicated that further escalation could follow if such incidents continue, suggesting the possibility of expanded military operations.

Iran, meanwhile, has rejected the accusations and warned of retaliation, stating that US military bases in the Gulf region could become targets if strikes continue. Iranian officials described the US action as a violation of sovereignty and vowed a strong response.

Following the developments, several Gulf countries including Kuwait and Bahrain raised security alerts. Reports also indicated activation of air defence systems and emergency sirens in some areas.

The Strait of Hormuz remains on high alert as tensions continue to threaten one of the world’s most vital oil transit routes, raising concerns over global energy security and maritime stability.
