New Delhi: The Government of India has, for the first time, officially made public the names of six Indian armed forces personnel who laid down their lives during Operation Sindoor. After remaining undisclosed for nearly a year, their names have now been inscribed on the Roll of Honour at the National War Memorial in New Delhi, paying the nation’s formal tribute to their supreme sacrifice.
The identities of the soldiers had not been released immediately after the operation, as the government maintained confidentiality regarding military casualties. With their names now included at the National War Memorial, the country has officially acknowledged and honoured their sacrifice.
Operation Sindoor was launched in May 2025 in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. During the operation, the Indian Armed Forces carried out precision strikes on terrorist infrastructure located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
The inclusion of the six soldiers’ names on the National War Memorial’s Roll of Honour is being regarded as a permanent recognition of their courage, dedication and supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.
