New Delhi: The United States military has acknowledged carrying out an attack on a commercial vessel near the coast of Oman, which reportedly had an Indian crew on board. According to reports, two Hellfire missiles were used in the operation.
The vessel is said to be the third ship targeted in a series of recent strikes in the region involving ships carrying Indian sailors, raising serious concerns over maritime safety and the security of international shipping routes in the Gulf.
Earlier incidents in the area also involved two other vessels with Indian crew members, escalating tensions in the region. The repeated strikes have triggered concerns over the safety of seafarers and the potential risks to global trade corridors.
India has already strongly protested such incidents and called for the safety and protection of its citizens working on commercial vessels. The US has stated that these actions are part of enforcement measures targeting alleged violations related to sanctioned oil transport linked to Iran.
The situation has further heightened sensitivities in the region, with growing international calls for transparency and investigation into the incidents.
