Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has once again praised former US President Donald Trump, crediting him for playing a significant role in the ceasefire between India and Pakistan and saying that Pakistan will remain “forever grateful” to him.
Addressing a public event, Sharif said that during the period of heightened military tensions between India and Pakistan last year, Trump’s “timely and decisive intervention” helped ease the situation and contributed to achieving a ceasefire.
He added that this intervention helped maintain peace in South Asia and prevented a potential large-scale escalation. Describing Trump as a “proponent of peace,” Sharif said Pakistan deeply values his efforts.
Notably, India has consistently maintained that the ceasefire understanding was reached through direct communication between the two countries, without any third-party mediation.
Sharif’s remarks have once again drawn international attention and sparked discussion over differing narratives regarding the ceasefire.
