Washington : US President Donald Trump has praised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, describing him as a “good friend” and expressing confidence that the United States and India will soon finalize a trade agreement.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said, “I like Prime Minister Modi very much. He is a good friend of mine, and we have a great relationship. We will reach a trade deal.” His remarks come as the two countries continue negotiations aimed at strengthening economic and commercial ties.
Trump noted that trade discussions between Washington and New Delhi have made progress in recent months. He said both sides are working to address outstanding issues and expressed optimism that an agreement beneficial to both economies can be achieved.
The comments were made amid ongoing talks between officials from the two countries on a range of trade-related matters, including tariffs, market access, customs procedures, non-tariff barriers and investment opportunities.
