Tel Aviv: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have carried out a new wave of airstrikes across Lebanon, targeting more than 70 Hezbollah infrastructure sites and using around 85 munitions, according to official statements.

In a post on X, the IDF said that in the Tyre region, 10 command centres, weapons storage facilities, and other Hezbollah-linked infrastructure sites were struck. The military further claimed that Hezbollah operatives on motorcycles were also eliminated during the operations.

The Israeli Air Force additionally targeted Hezbollah infrastructure in the Beqaa Valley and several other areas across Lebanon.

According to Al Jazeera, citing Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA), Israeli airstrikes killed seven people and injured several others. In one incident in Machgharah, five people were killed, multiple others injured, and rescue teams were deployed to pull survivors from the rubble of destroyed homes. Another strike in Kouthariyeh el-Siyad reportedly killed two people and injured two more.

In response to escalating tensions, Israel’s Home Front Command announced new restrictions in northern border communities. Effective Tuesday, outdoor gatherings will be limited to 50 people, while indoor gatherings will be capped at 200—down from previous limits of 200 outdoors and 600 indoors.

Local authorities in northern Israel have also ordered the closure of schools until further notice, according to The Times of Israel.

The latest strikes follow remarks by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who instructed the military to intensify operations against Hezbollah after a US official indicated that Washington may support a larger offensive against the Iran-backed group amid increasing drone attacks.

In a video statement, Netanyahu said, “We are at war with Hezbollah. In recent weeks, our brave fighters have eliminated more than 600 terrorists. But we are not taking our foot off the gas. On the contrary, I have instructed them to press the pedal even harder.”
