Washington: Senior Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, a close ally of U.S. President Donald Trump, has said that the ongoing talks aimed at ending the conflict involving Iran should result in an expansion of the Abraham Accords.
Graham stated that if America’s Arab and Muslim allies agree to join the Abraham Accords, it could become one of the most important agreements in Middle East history.
His remarks came after President Trump hinted in a recent social media post that more countries could soon join the Abraham Accords framework.
Lindsey Graham Urges Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Pakistan
In a social media post, Graham wrote that the inclusion of countries like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Pakistan in the Abraham Accords would be a transformational step not only for the Middle East but for the entire world.
He described it as:
“A brilliant move by President Trump.”
Graham urged Saudi Arabia and other nations to seriously consider joining the agreement, warning that refusing to do so could ultimately hurt their own interests.
“Time to Change the Middle East”
Appealing directly to Arab nations, Graham said the time had come to show courage for a new future in the Middle East.
He stated:
“As President Trump has suggested, joining the Abraham Accords could end the Arab-Israeli conflict permanently.”
Graham further warned that if Saudi Arabia and other nations reject Trump’s proposal, it could negatively impact future relations with the United States.
According to him:
- Rejecting the proposal would amount to rejecting a historic peace initiative
- History could remember such a decision as a major strategic mistake
Message to Trump: Stay Firm on Iran Deal
Lindsey Graham also addressed President Trump directly in his post, urging him to remain committed to securing a “strong deal” with Iran.
At the same time, he emphasized that any negotiations should include efforts to bring Saudi Arabia and other regional countries into the Abraham Accords framework.
He called the proposal:
“An outstanding initiative by President Trump.”
Trump Also Mentioned Abraham Accords
In a post shared on Sunday regarding a possible agreement with Iran, President Trump thanked Middle Eastern nations for their support and cooperation.
He added that support and regional stability would become even stronger if more countries joined the historic Abraham Accords.
Trump also made a surprising remark, saying:
“Who knows, maybe even Iran could eventually become part of the agreement.”
The statement has sparked renewed discussion about a possible reshaping of diplomatic relations in the Middle East.
