New Delhi: The relationship between India and the United States extends far beyond a conventional strategic partnership and is rooted in shared democratic values, common security interests, and a commitment to global stability, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said during his discussions with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.
The two leaders held wide-ranging talks covering key issues such as counterterrorism cooperation, regional security, trade, energy, technology, and developments in the Indo-Pacific region. Rubio emphasized that the growing partnership between India and the US is crucial not only for the two countries but also for maintaining peace and stability across the world.
Terrorism figured prominently in the discussions, with both sides underscoring the need to strengthen cooperation against terrorist threats and networks. The United States reiterated its commitment to working closely with India in combating terrorism and addressing shared security challenges.
Jaishankar and Rubio also discussed ways to deepen economic engagement, strengthen resilient supply chains, and expand collaboration in defense and advanced technologies. Both leaders highlighted the importance of maintaining a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.
Describing India as a vital strategic partner, Rubio said that the two democracies would continue to work together to address global challenges and promote stability, security, and prosperity worldwide.
