Tehran: Iran has firmly rejected claims made by U.S. President Donald Trump that Tehran had agreed to transfer or remove its enriched uranium stockpile as part of ongoing nuclear discussions. Iranian officials said the country’s uranium remains under its control and will not be moved anywhere.
A spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry said statements coming from Washington regarding Tehran’s nuclear programme were misleading and did not reflect the reality of the talks. The official added that Iran would not compromise on its national interests or scientific achievements.
Earlier, Donald Trump claimed that Iran had shown willingness to halt certain nuclear activities and transfer enriched uranium from underground facilities, suggesting progress toward a possible agreement between the two sides.
However, Tehran’s strong response indicates that serious differences remain unresolved. Analysts believe the future of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile, international inspections, and sanctions relief are likely to remain key sticking points in any negotiations.
Iran has consistently maintained that its nuclear programme is for peaceful purposes, while the United States and several Western nations have long accused Tehran of pursuing weapons capability. The issue continues to be a major source of tension between both countries.
