New Delhi: The Indian government has blocked access to 43 more mobile apps on Tuesday under section 69A of the IT Act. Most of them were Chinese operated. The action has been taken against mobile applications which were involved in activities prejudicial to India’s sovereignty, integrity, defence, security and public order.
The Center has taken this decision based on the report sent to the Home Ministry of the Indian Cybercrime Co-ordination Center.
Center took action against apps 4 times
•For the first time, on 29 June, the government had banned 59 Chinese apps citing the same reason. The decision was taken after the Galvan clash on 15 June.
•After this, 47 apps were banned on 27 July too. The government took this step when tensions were rising in Ladakh and Chinese troops tried to infiltrate twice.
•On 2nd September, the government banned 118 apps including PUBG. PubG has been downloaded by over 175 million people.
•Now again the government has banned 43 mobile apps. They have been described as a threat to the security and integrity of the country.

267 apps banned in 148 days
The Galvan clash took place on 15th June. To give a strong message and to pressurize China, the government banned Chinese apps for the first time. After this, 267 apps have been banned within 148 days and most of these apps are Chinese.
