Desk:On Wednesday, British MP Bob Blackman strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, labeling it a “well-orchestrated Islamic terror assault.” Speaking in the UK Parliament, Blackman demanded stern action against terrorist camps operating in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and asked British Foreign Secretary David Lammy what steps the international community is taking to dismantle these terror infrastructures.
Referring to India’s swift military response, Blackman stated that under “Operation Sindoor,” India carried out precision airstrikes on nine terrorist bases located in Pakistan and PoK following the April 22 Pahalgam attack. He termed it a necessary retaliatory measure and emphasized that now the international community must apply pressure on Pakistan to eradicate terrorism at its roots.
Blackman also shared a video clip of his parliamentary speech on social media platform X, writing, “Following the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam, India launched precise airstrikes on nine terrorist camps under Operation Sindoor. As peace talks progress, I asked the Foreign Secretary what actions are being taken to dismantle terrorist bases in PoK.”
Responding to the question, Foreign Secretary David Lammy described the attack as brutal and inhumane. “The killing of 26 individuals by gunshots to the head was absolutely horrifying,” he said. “We condemn this terrorist act and will work in cooperation with both India and Pakistan to combat terrorism.”
Lammy further stated that this is not solely an India-Pakistan issue, but one that requires a proactive and decisive role from the global community.
Blackman expressed deep concern over the nature of the attack, calling it a religiously motivated assault. In Parliament, he said, “This was a highly organized and premeditated attack. The 26 victims were either Hindus or Christians, deliberately targeted and shot in the head. It was a planned Islamic terror attack aimed at innocent tourists based on their religious identity.” He urged the British government to stand with India and exert diplomatic and strategic pressure to dismantle terror infrastructure in PoK.
For context, India launched “Operation Sindoor” on April 23, carrying out airstrikes on nine terrorist camps in Pakistan-controlled territories. India also retaliated against subsequent Pakistani attempts to strike Indian positions, inflicting significant damage on multiple Pakistani military installations.
