Desk:Amid escalating tensions with India, reports suggest that Pakistan’s government and intelligence agency ISI have heightened security for terrorist Hafiz Saeed. While official confirmation is still pending, it is said that the security measures were intensified following the terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, which resulted in the death of 26 tourists. Tensions between India and Pakistan along the border have continued since the attack.
According to sources cited by Times of India, Pakistan is concerned about the possibility of covert operations following the Pahalgam attack. Sources have revealed that former commandos from the Special Services Group (SSG) have been assigned to Saeed’s security. Additionally, more personnel have been deployed around his residences, including his house in Lahore’s Johar Town. Saeed is reportedly being kept in an area heavily populated with ordinary Pakistanis.
Saeed is the founder of the militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba and was the mastermind behind the 2008 Mumbai bombings. He is wanted by the Indian government, and the U.S. also has a bounty on his head. Recently, it was reported that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang allegedly claimed to have avenged the Pahalgam terrorist attack and posted Saeed’s photo on social media, threatening to target him in Pakistan.
