Desk: Tensions between India and Pakistan have soared following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan is reportedly living under the shadow of fear, anticipating a possible military strike from India. In a dramatic late-night development, Pakistan’s Information Minister Atta Tarar held an emergency press conference around 2 AM on Tuesday, claiming that Islamabad had received credible intelligence suggesting that India might launch military action within the next 24 to 36 hours.
Tarar also shared this information on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), alleging that India is planning an unprovoked military operation against Pakistan based on baseless and false accusations. “India is acting like judge, jury, and executioner — a dangerous and irresponsible stance,” Tarar said.
He further stated that Pakistan had proposed the formation of a neutral expert commission to conduct an independent, fair, and transparent investigation into the Pahalgam incident — a proposal that India allegedly rejected. “India’s refusal to allow an investigation shows its intentions are not honest. It is using the incident to inflame public sentiment and make politically motivated military decisions,” he added.
Appealing to the international community, Tarar warned that if India carries out any military action, all responsibility for the consequences would rest with New Delhi. “Pakistan will respond decisively and confidently to any act of aggression. We are fully prepared to protect our sovereignty and territorial integrity at any cost,” he declared.
India had earlier accused Pakistani elements of being involved in last week’s terror attack in Pahalgam. Islamabad has denied all accusations and has called for a neutral investigation involving international agencies.
Amid rising hostilities, both nuclear-armed nations have taken significant retaliatory steps. India has suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, while Pakistan has closed its airspace to Indian airlines.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the country’s armed forces have full freedom to conduct operations to root out terrorists and ensure the safety of Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif told Reuters that a military strike by India appears imminent and that the country is on high alert. He also noted that Pakistan would only consider the use of nuclear weapons if there were a direct threat to its survival.
