Desk:Amid ongoing discussions regarding a new nuclear agreement with the United States, a massive explosion has been reported at an Iranian port, resulting in injuries to more than 400 people. According to state media, the blast occurred on Saturday at the Shahid Rajaee Port in Bandar Abbas city. Authorities fear there may also be fatalities, although confirmation is still awaited.
In response to the explosion, port activities have been immediately suspended to aid firefighting efforts. Iran’s Tasnim News Agency reported that a large number of people were present at the port when the explosion occurred.
A local official stated, “The incident happened due to explosions in several containers stored near the shoreline close to Shahid Rajaee Port. We are currently rescuing the injured and transporting them to hospitals.”
Following the incident, a wave of panic has gripped the area. Reports suggest that windows in houses located several kilometers away were shattered due to the force of the explosion. Meanwhile, multiple videos circulating on social media show the area engulfed in thick plumes of smoke.
