New Delhi: Tahawwur Hussain Rana, one of the key conspirators of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, is being continuously interrogated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). He will be questioned again today. Extradited from the United States, Rana is currently lodged in a high-security cell at the NIA headquarters, where he is under round-the-clock surveillance.
According to reports, Rana has made three specific demands to Indian authorities since his custody began. While these demands have been officially acknowledged, no special privileges have been granted.
One of his first requests was for a copy of the Quran, which NIA officials promptly provided. “He offers prayers five times a day and is presenting himself as a religious individual,” officials stated.
Rana also asked for pen and paper to write, which have been given to him. However, strict monitoring is in place to ensure that the pen is not misused for self-harm or any unauthorized activity. As per a Delhi court directive, Rana is allowed to meet a lawyer appointed by the Delhi Legal Services Authority on alternate days.
Officials have clarified that Rana is not receiving any VIP treatment. “He is being treated like any other detainee. All legal and medical protocols are being followed as per the rules,” an official said. His health is being monitored with a medical check-up every 48 hours.
