Islamabad: The Afghan Taliban government has opted not to participate in a global summit focused on girls’ education in the Muslim world, which is being hosted by neighboring Pakistan. This was confirmed by Pakistan’s Education Minister, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, on Saturday.
Speaking to AFP, Siddiqui stated, “We had extended an invitation to Afghanistan, but no representative from the Afghan government attended the conference.” The summit aims to address critical challenges and foster collaboration among Muslim-majority countries to promote education for girls, an issue that has faced significant setbacks under the Taliban regime in Afghanistan.
