Desk:Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the meeting venue to participate in the 19th G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Upon his arrival, he was warmly welcomed by Brazil’s President Lula da Silva, who greeted him with a handshake and a heartfelt embrace. The two leaders engaged in a long conversation, showcasing their camaraderie. President Lula even placed his hand on PM Modi’s shoulder while they spoke.
PM Modi is attending the summit as a member of the G20 Troika, which includes the current, previous, and incoming G20 presidencies – Brazil, India, and South Africa. The Troika collaborates to ensure seamless preparations for the summit. Leaders such as China’s Xi Jinping and the United States’ Joe Biden are also participating in the summit on November 18-19.
During the summit, PM Modi is expected to discuss India’s stance on several global issues and hold bilateral talks with world leaders. Earlier, he received a warm reception from the Indian community in Rio de Janeiro, who welcomed him with Sanskrit chants. Taking to social media, he expressed gratitude for their energy and affection, describing it as a reflection of the bond shared across continents.
PM Modi’s visit is part of a three-nation tour. After the summit, he will proceed to Guyana from November 19-21 at the invitation of President Mohamed Irfaan Ali. This marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Guyana in over 50 years.
