Desk:Defense Minister Rajnath Singh announced on Sunday that India has successfully tested a long-range hypersonic missile off the coast of Odisha from the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island. According to officials, the missile test was conducted on Saturday.
Singh hailed this achievement as a historic moment and stated that it places India among a select group of nations with the capability to develop such advanced technologies. Sharing the news on social media platform ‘X,’ he said, “India has achieved a major milestone by successfully testing a long-range hypersonic missile from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island, off the Odisha coast.”
The Defense Minister congratulated the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), the armed forces, and the industry for this remarkable feat. He emphasized that this significant advancement strengthens India’s defense capabilities and aligns the nation with the few countries possessing such critical military technologies.

The hypersonic missile is designed to carry payloads over a distance exceeding 1,500 kilometers. It boasts an incredible speed of approximately 6,174 km/h, making it extremely difficult to detect.
