Desk:The Indian Army has rejected speculations regarding a deadlock in military talks between India and China in the Depsang region of eastern Ladakh. On Thursday, the Army took to its X (formerly Twitter) account to clarify that no obstructions or opposition have occurred. The Army labeled certain media reports as “imaginary and factually incorrect.”
According to the additional Director General of Public Relations, some reports published on Wednesday and Thursday had mentioned a stalemate in Depsang and Demchok.
The Indian Army clarified, “It is made clear that disengagement in Depsang and Demchok has been completed, and as per the agreement, patrolling in traditional areas has resumed as planned. There have been no obstacles in this process.” The Army urged the concerned media houses to verify facts before reporting on sensitive issues to avoid the spread of misleading information.
The Army emphasized, “The reports published on this matter are imaginary and factually incorrect. Media houses are requested to verify the facts and publish reports only after proper verification to avoid spreading unnecessary misleading information.”
It is worth mentioning that on October 21, India announced a patrolling agreement in the disputed areas of Depsang and Demchok, with both countries’ armies instructed to return to the situation of 2020. This agreement included the removal of structures and the restoration of the original positions. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar had stated, “We have reached an agreement and have returned to the 2020 situation. With this, we can confirm that the disengagement process with China has been completed. While there were some obstructions in certain areas after 2020, patrolling has now resumed as before, as per the agreement.”
