Brampton: In recent days, attacks on Hindu temples in Canada have increased, prompting the Hindu community to unite against the aggression of Khalistani extremists and separatists. In response to an attack on worshippers at a Hindu temple in Brampton on Sunday, a large number of Hindus gathered on Monday to protest against the violence. Slogans inspired by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s phrase, “If you divide, you will fall,” echoed during the protest.
A video from outside Brampton’s Hindu Sabha Temple shows a large group of people holding religious flags and the Indian tricolor, chanting slogans. A priest is heard leading the chants through a microphone, reiterating the message of unity with the slogan “Divide and fall.” People also raised slogans like “Bharat Mata ki Jai” (Victory to Mother India). The priest emphasized that this is not just a time for slogans but a call for unity.
In the video, the priest underscores that the attack was not only on the Hindu Sabha but on Hindus worldwide. He urges people to think about the future and remain united. The message is clear: while the community does not seek conflict, they will stand firm against any opposition.
This rallying cry comes after a group of Khalistani supporters attacked the temple and its visitors. The incident has caused outrage among Hindus globally. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau condemned the violence, calling it unacceptable. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Trudeau stated, “The violence at Brampton’s Hindu Sabha Temple is unacceptable. Every Canadian has the right to practice their religion freely and in a safe environment.”
The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) also denounced the attack. VHP’s International President, Alok Kumar, criticized the Canadian government for failing to provide adequate security despite prior warnings from the Indian embassy. Kumar emphasized that this was not the first incident; similar attacks had occurred earlier in Greater Toronto, British Columbia, and Brampton.
The Hindu community’s unity and the rallying cry against divisive forces mark a significant moment in their resolve to protect their religious and cultural identity in Canada.
