Srinagar: Security forces in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir eliminated three terrorists who had opened fire on an army convoy in an operation conducted on Monday. The army revealed on Tuesday that artificial intelligence (AI) was utilized in the operation to efficiently target the terrorists. During a press briefing, the army explained how AI contributed to achieving quick and successful results against the militants.
Unfortunately, the anti-terror operation resulted in the loss of a four-year-old search dog named Phantom, who was leading the team during the search operation and was shot by the terrorists. The sacrifice of the army dog helped save the lives of several soldiers.
Major Sameer Srivastava of the Indian Army stated on Tuesday that unmanned vehicles and AI were used in the anti-terror operations in Jammu and Kashmir, allowing for quicker and more effective outcomes. He also acknowledged the use of BMP tanks in the operation, noting that the challenging terrain necessitated such equipment for rapid results.
Sacrifice of Army Dog Phantom Saves Soldiers’ Lives
During the operation, Major Srivastava remarked, “When we were conducting the search operation, army dog Phantom was leading the way. The terrorists opened fire on him. His sacrifice is what saved many of our personnel. Phantom was shot while trying to protect the soldiers from the attackers.”
Terrorists Had Bigger Plans
Major General Srivastava informed ANI, “Upon receiving intelligence about the presence of terrorists in the village, we decided to take immediate action. When they realized their plans were failing, they opened fire on our convoy. Given how heavily armed the terrorists were, we believe they came with a significant plan. Terrorist organizations had also posted about intending to execute something major, so we were prepared and collaborated with intelligence agencies and other organizations.”
It is noteworthy that the terrorists fired on an army ambulance, prompting an immediate counter-response. The area was swiftly sealed off, and a search operation was initiated by Jammu and Kashmir police along with Indian security forces. In the counterattack, three terrorists were killed, and a significant cache of weapons was recovered.
